Tutoring and Mentorship

Having tutored many students over the years I have the heart of a teacher and understand how getting through classes and starting a career can be a very daunting task. There were many times during my school when I wished individual tutors were available, but as classes got more advanced it seemed harder and harder to find.  I'm currently located in Atlanta GA and I am open to working with students via Zoom or in person if they are in the Georgia Tech / Buckhead area. See below for more details. Pricing is dependent on your particular needs but can range from $40-$80/hr. Please contact me if you have any questions and we can talk about your situation.

Tutoring and Mentorship: About

Early Career/Mentorship

Flunk your first calculus midterm?

Have doubts that engineering is for you?

Considering a career in the hard-sciences?

Disillusioned by your educational choices and want to pivot fields?

Here are some of the things I can help with...

Early-Early College (Freshman-Sophomore)

  • Creating a general understanding of a career path in the sciences and engineering fields.

  • Identifying passions, strengths and weaknesses and how they might work within your career.

  • Will community college hurt my career options?

  • What I wish I had known when beginning school.

  • How to research career fields. Qualifications and pay for the field you might enjoy.

  • Have a dream job? Let's investigate what it will take to get the job you're interested in.

  • How to make sure your hard work is driving your towards your desired goals. Picking a major etc.

  • Choosing peers. Building relationships that matter.

  • Meeting professors. Being assertive and purposeful.

  • What I wish I had known...

Mid-College (Junior-Senior)

  • Writing your first resume with seemingly little actual experience.

  • Pursuing mentor relationships.

  • Getting the most out of group projects. Taking initiative and adding to your resume.

  • Letters of recommendation.

  • Internships.

  • Picking an emphasis and planning ahead.

  • Disillusioned about your educational choices? How I pivoted, leveraged my current skill set and didn't lose hope.

Late-College/Early Career (First Jobs and Graduate School)

  • What do "Real" engineers and scientists do?

  • What is an informational interview and how can it shed light on your job search.

  • Prepping for interviews.

  • Networking for introverts.

  • Know where you are headed. Job X leads to management, job Y leads to being a technical expert.

  • Interviewing employers. Picking a healthy work environment that will compliment your strengths and push you to grow.

  • Dealing with rejection. Making the most of all interviews and learning to ask for feedback.

  • Not ready for work yet? What a graduate program might look like for you. Evaluating cost, research opportunities, and post-graduate expectations.
